Abstract: |
Trial trenches, most of which were located in order to investigate geophysical anomalies, revealed a linear feature, probably the remnant of a late 17th century boundary. At the side of the site closest to a nearby church, post holes of uncertain date represented the remains of at least one structure. It was speculated that this may have been Saxon. It was noted that there was a considerable protective overburden of topsoil across the site, and that the vulnerability of the archaeological remains would depend on the depth and extent of proposed ground disturbance.
