Abstract: |
The evaluation of the southern area consisted of 212 trial trenches. Although over three quarters of the trenches contained none, or undated, archaeological features, the evaluation identified small areas of potentially significance archaeological remains. An area of Late Iron Age and early Roman settlement activity was observed in Phases 2 and 3. This consisted of a series of enclosure ditches situated to the south west of Jennett's Hill and several small features located to the north and west of Phase 2. In the remaining trenches several small prehistoric ditches were identified in phases 2, 3 and 4 and limited post-medieval activity associated with former field systems was also identified.
