Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief over two areas (160m by 6m and 650m by 6m), was undertaken during construction of a water main between Reskadinnick and Kieve Mill by South West Water. This revealed an area south of Goonzoyle Lodge, Coombe, with activity represented by shallow scoops infilled with burnt clay and associated medieval and late medieval pottery. Finds of late medieval pottery focussed on Kieve Mill and Coombe accorded with 16th century documentation for these settlements. A prehistoric flint scatter was found to the west of Kieve Mill Cottage. [Au(adp)] |
