Abstract: |
One trench was excavated in a paved area within the footprint of the proposed extension. Mortar-bonded masonry was found along with 12th-13th century pottery and evidence of a robber trench, as well as the backfill of the earlier excavations. The material above the remains of the wall also contained medieval pottery, but no more recent finds, implying that it had not been substantially disturbed since the demolition of the castle keep, probably in the mid-late 12th century.
