Abstract: |
A watching brief on the three stages of a housing development showed the site mainly to contain no archaeology. However, features recovered were mainly undatable linear ditches/gullies, some of which may have formed field, or minor enclosure, boundaries. A single small ditch, of Roman date was found. One area of considerable archaeological interest found, consisted of six related features containing important pottery of Iron Age and Roman date. This possibly represents a late Iron Age farmstead which then evolved into a Romano-British site. [AIP] |
