Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks inside the medieval building. The removal of the Yorkstone floor-slabs, and sandy mortar revealed a fairly homogenous layer containing artefacts which suggested a modern origin. A modern drain and a 16th/17th century free-standing fireplace/chimney foundation were revealed and recorded prior to destruction. [Au] |
