Abstract: |
A desk based assessment of two adjacent proposed development sites was undertaken. Dense concentrations of Palaeolithic flint tools had been recorded at gravel quarries in the area; a small number of later prehistoric and Roman artefacts had also been found. The two sites had first been built on in the mid-20th century; works had included terracing, resulting in the removal of gravel deposits. It was concluded that a watching brief should be carried out during groundworks, although any development of previously undisturbed areas could render an evaluation necessary. [AIP] |
