Abstract: |
The evaluation was the second phase of archaeological work on the site in advance of a proposed residential development. The first phase of work in 2002 was limited in scope due to the remains of live sewers. A post-medieval feature was observed during previous work and the 2004 evaluation clarified the nature of the feature as a probable gravel quarry, backfilled during the construction of the former Elham Valley Railway line.
