Abstract: |
A building survey was undertaken of Rowles Croft in Ditchling. Although the building had been subjected to various alterations, the house was essentially of one period, having been built either during the last half of the 18th century, or possibly the opening decade of the 19th century. It was designed as a double-pile, central-entry, terminal-chimney structure with a contemporary service lean-to attached to the northern end. The general design suggested that it was built for an owner from the professional classes. [AIP] |
