Abstract: |
Based upon the previous discoveries made in and around Old Park, it seemed fairly certain that several significant archaeological sites awaited discovery across the site. The available evidence suggested that a Roman period occupation site, represented by pits, ditches and post holes existed somewhere in the area adjacent to Honeywood Road. An Anglo-Saxon cemetery of some size and importance lay at the south-western end of Old Park Wood, adjacent to Woodside. Unstratified material, particularly prehistoric flint-work, was also likely to have been contained within the topsoil across much of the site. [Au(adp)] |
