Abstract: |
An evaluation trench was excavated through a section of bank and ditch lying along the proposed route of a new haul road from Littlejohns pit to an existing dump on Hensbarrow Downs. The ditch was found to be steeply 'V'-shaped and of 20th century date, interpreted as either a prospecting trench for tin or china-clay, or a World War Two slit-trench or similar feature. [AIP] |
