Abstract: |
<summary>Following an evaluation, it was proposed that specific areas of the Winnall Allotments site be more fully excavated. Nearly 300 post holes and pits were discovered; 130 of them can be grouped into nine Bronze Age house structures, eight of which are round houses (two with porches), the other a long house. A slightly curving Bronze Age ditch contained pottery and a flint mace head. Two other ditches were located; one produced 13th and 14th century pottery, whilst the other appeared to be of 18th - 19th century date. The excavation was followed up with a watching brief.
