Abstract: |
The purpose of the watching brief was to investigate a leak in the moat which was seeping oily water and causing the surrounding ground to be waterlogged. A clay drainage pipe was removed and the trench excavated to the depth of approximately 500 mm. The source of the leak appeared to be clear water issuing from a fissure in the natural bedrock, behind a section of the revetment. The trench was backfilled with hardcore to act as a French drain, channelling the water down into the cunette on the outer site of the moat.[Au(abr)] |
