Abstract: |
An evaluation took place due to a proposal to relocate chalk downland turf and ploughsoils from Scheduled Ancient Monuments, which would be affected by the M3 motorway construction. Fieldwalking took place and then trenches were set across the hollow ways, known as the 'Dongas', to assess their survival and locate any other archaeological features. A number of linear features were recorded of prehistoric and later date, the lack of finds made dating difficult. The wholesale removal of ploughsoil could adversely affect features. [Au(abr)] |
