Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during groundworks for the construction of a new dwelling at a site which lay within a Local Area of Archaeological Importance. Archaeological evidence recorded in the surrounding area included prehistoric flint tools, a Bronze Age hoard, Roman remains and a feature and layer containing Saxon pottery. Evidence of medieval and later activity had also been found. During the watching brief, modern disturbance and an undated pit were observed. Unstratified finds included two fragments of prehistoric worked flint, Roman and medieval tile and pottery of medieval and post-medieval date. [AIP] |
