Abstract: |
The assessment identified 110 sites of potential archaeological interest, only 33 of which were already recorded in the SMR. These range from simple field boundaries to potential pottery kilns, brick kilns, and a Roman Road. Numerous significant sites like moated houses and a possible medieval glass making site were identified within the study area but were unlikely to be affected by the development. The majority of the sites are likely to be medieval or post-medieval in date, and many relate to agricultural activity, including some substantial field systems, which may form parts of deserted medieval villages. Further work should be undertaken. [Au(abr)] |
