Abstract: |
Evaluation trenches were excavated in advance of development at the probable sites of medieval Ouston Grange and its mill, which lay within the area of a former power station dating from the 1950s. The area was found to have been deeply disturbed in modern times. A build-up of over 2m of modern material was encountered, and it was concluded that if any archaeological remains had survived, they would be at such a depth that they would not be disturbed by the development.
