Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment and a walkover survey of the proposed route of a pipeline were carried out. Only a small number of sites and archaeological finds had previously been recorded in the surrounding area. These included two Neolithic and two Bronze Age artefacts, the sites of two medieval manors and a post-medieval lime kiln. During the survey, a prehistoric flint flake was found on the course of the pipeline, and several former field boundaries were identified. Three sunken roads which may have been of some antiquity were also observed. It was recommended that archaeological monitoring should be carried out following the stripping of topsoil. [AIP] |
