Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out during groundworks for extension and conversion of the existing buildings. During the work no archaeological deposits were identified despite the close proximity to the Roman Road. However, due to the Roman road crossing this area and the early settlement of Staplehurst being close by, any further development should be subjected to a programme of archaeological work.
