Abstract: |
During the course of the watching brief archaeological information was recovered from both sample cores and surface excavations concerning the structure and composition of the Norman Motte, as well as the depth and nature of a Saxo-Norman buried soil beneath the motte. The works also revealed part of a post-medieval back block to the rear of a house fronting Totnes High Street. Prehistoric finds recovered both in 1999 and 2000 suggested prehistoric activity and possibly settlement of the site or in the vicinity.[Au(abr)] |
