Abstract: |
A watching brief and limited excavation on the route of the proposed mains water scheme identified a series of sites of archaeological interest. This included: an early wood bank, post-medieval possible charcoal burning sites and brick kiln pits and medieval peg-tile scatters, two phases of enclosure ditch, hearth and a burnt surface, all possibly indicating a settlement associated with the Augustinian Priory. An undated ditch and windmill mound were also located. [Au(adp)] |
