Abstract: |
An evaluation, comprising the removal of sections of cellar walls of the demolished Pearson House, and the excavation of trial trenches in accessible areas, was undertaken. Prior to the 19th century Church, known to have once occupied the site and the many stone quarries encountered during the evaluation, only one earlier feature survived. This comprised a ditch of medieval date. Only remnants of the 19th century church foundations survived, the later construction of Pearson House having produced massive destruction of earlier archaeological deposits. [AIP] |
