Abstract:
An archaeological assessment was undertaken of Trencrom which contained at its summit an important complex of archaeological remains dating probably from the Neolithic through to the Romano-British periods. Features present across the site included a hilltop enclosure, possibly in use from the Neolithic period, a barrow or cairn (Bronze Age), ring cairns (Bronze Age, Iron Age), hut circles (Iron Age), hollow-ways (Iron Age, post-medieval), wells (post-medieval), roadways (post-medieval), evidence of post-medieval mining (eg. mine shafts, evidence of lode-back workings, an engine house, prospecting pits), and finds from the Neolithic period, the Bronze Age, the Iron Age, the early medieval, medieval, Mesolithic and Romano-British periods.
