Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment was undertaken to determine the archaeological implications of proposed gas pipeline construction. Despite Roman and medieval remains existing in the locality of the pipeline route, the earliest maps indicated that the investigation area was always open ground and was eventually enclosed by the end of the 18th century. Limited post-medieval development occurred in the region, including the foundation of two halls either side of the pipeline route. Because of the limited post-medieval development any surviving archaeological remains have potential to be well preserved. [Au(abr)] |
