Abstract: |
The whole area of the development appeared to have been subject to relatively modern disturbance and build-up. Even assuming they existed, it seems highly unlikely that any medieval remains of the hospital survive anywhere on the unexcavated parts of this plot of land. There was enough evidence, in the form of variation in height of the hill-wash to show that the cellar had been dug through this material rather than inserted into a terrace of earlier date.
