Abstract: |
Archaeological assessment was undertaken on the proposed upgrading of the A1 to motorway. This forms stage three of the archaeological works programme and looks at the northern and southern study areas. The study comprised supplementary desk top study, rapid identification of sites, metal detection survey, intensive field survey, geophysical survey and trial trenching. Few sites of archaeological significance were found other than extant medieval earthwork sites. [Au(abr)] |
