Abstract: |
The existing Savacentre site occupied part of a medieval priory precinct, including the site of its church. Prehistoric struck and worked flint implements had been found on or adjacent to the site in the past and a major Roman road was believed to cross the site. Before the Savacentre was built in 1989, part of the priory site was designated a Scheduled Ancient Monument, SAM GL 151 and archaeological excavations of the Priory Church were conducted. Any groundworks may have exposed further archaeological remains, including graves. [Au(abr)] |
