Abstract: |
Assessment of land proposed for residential development identified that the proposal area lay within an area of low archaeological potential, although it was also shown that archaeological stratigraphy associated with the medieval Pen Park Manor (comprising remains associated with a medieval deer park and other ancillary activities associated with the manor) may have potentially survived in this area. Cartographic evidences indicated that the study area was of predominately rural character until the present residential housing was constructed during the 1950's. However, it was felt that the nature of the current landuse was unlikley to have seriously disturbed any potential archaeological stratigraphy and that small-scale evaluation of the area would be necessary to further detail the archaeological potential of this development site.
