Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was carried out to assess the archaeological and cultural heritage interests of the construction of a proposed buried aviation fuel pipeline from near Pendell Farm, Bletchingley, Surrey, to Gatwick Airport, Crawley, West Sussex. The route had been designed to avoid all historic standing structures including Listed Buildings, and no Scheduled Ancient Monuments were to be affected by the pipeline. Areas of historic parkland to be crossed were registered as being of local importance. The pipeline was to leave no permanent visual effects on the areas. Several 'sites' directly affected were noted only as findspots, of uncertain archaeological potential. [Au(abr)] |
