Abstract: |
The desk-based assessment indicated that the only known archaeological remains within the proposed development area comprised a windmill site, shown on an early 19th century map. However, it was quite possible that the absence of archaeological find spots simply reflected the lack of previous fieldwork in the area. The development area was also situated close to an undated field system and the area was within a landscape of known Bronze Age and Roman occupation. Map evidence indicated that the site was not built on after 1885. Therefore any remains probably remained well preserved beneath the present ground surface. [Au(adp)] |
