Abstract: |
A site evaluation at the junction of Sandown Road and Canute Road was undertaken prior to development. The site, 100 metres south of Sandown Castle, was within the corridor of the Henrician defences which linked the castles at Walmr, Deal and Sandown, shown on drawings made by Stukely in 1725. No evidence for the defensive works or any other archaeological remains were located. [Au] |
