Abstract: |
The evaluation by excavation and auguring was conducted on the site of a proposed residential wing and access road to the new Education Centre in the precincts of Christ Church Cathedral. A possible Roman building was identified during the sinking of P10. A medieval wall footing, flanked by a clay floor to its east and perhaps a light metalling to its west, was found near the western end of Tr.27. Medieval working surfaces were identified over much of the site. The evaluation also revealed areas of medieval and post-medieval development of the site. [AIP] |
