Abstract: |
Littlebourne Barn was one of the largest and oldest medieval barns in Kent, dating almost certainly from the first half of the 14th century. In common with the majority of Kentish barns it was aisled and built entirely of timber. The barn lay with its back against the churchyard of St. Vincent's. Prior to the restoration of the building by Canterbury City Council, with the intention to maintain and preserve the barn in its original form, a thorough archaeological survey of the structure was undertaken.
