Abstract: |
The condition of the wreck of the Roal Anne Galley was investigated as part of the Marine Environmental Assessment programme under the instruction of English Heritage. The wreck site was rediscovered in 1991 and was designated under the Protection of Wrecks Act in 1993. Although the Royal Anne lay close inshore in less than 5m of seawater, the area was surrounded by rocks and large Atlantic swells which made access difficult. No organic material had been recovered to date and the site appeared to be artefact bearing rather than containing any remaining ship structure. [Au(abr)] |
