Abstract: |
A review of existing archaeological conditions at Warmwell Quarry related to two areas of unquarried land, and an assessment of the effects of continued gravel extraction on the Scheduled Ancient Monument known as the Huck Barrow. No evidence for archaeological deposits existed within the two areas of land; one of which had evidence for earlier disturbance, the other being buried beneath a thick subsoil deposit. The effects on the barrow, which was not to be directly affected by quarrying, related to the issue of setting. It was proposed that a zone of protection be afforded around it to ensure its continued survival. [Au(abr)] |
