Abstract: |
Archaeological recording in advance of repair works to the late Iron Age Treryn Dinas Cliff Castle (SAM no 45) included a survey of the inner rampart. The stone-faced rampart, with a substantial external ditch, was split by a causeway leading to the gateway, the structure of which extended to the rear of the rampart line. Two rougly rectangular structures known as the 'watch-towers' may have been unrelated to the rampart, being much later in date and perhaps constructed as look-out posts for fishermen. [Au(abr)] |
