Abstract: |
The desk-based archaeological assessment for the proposed office development showed that known Roman sites were situated to the north-west and west of the site. Its location in the Soar Valley suggested the possibility of prehistoric and Anglo-Saxon remains, as found at similar locations. In addition, the Mountsorrel area may have been the location of prehistoric and Anglo-Saxon pottery production and therefore settlement during these periods was likely to have occurred near the granite outcrops. The proposed development area therefore had some archaeological potential. [Au(abr)] |
