Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried at a proposed lake development in two fields to the north-east of the village of Eggington. The study area was situated within an area under pasture, which contained the remains of a medieval field system. A field survey of the ridge and furrow was undertaken prior to the evaluation. Eight trial were then machine excavated under archaeological supervision in the area of proposed disturbance. No archaeological features were located. The finds from the topsoil comprised isolated pottery sherds and a horseshoe nail, all of 13th-14th century date. [Au] |
