Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of a single archaeological trench 3 metres square and 1.5 metres deep. Five phases of activity were identified. The earliest excavated deposits (phase 1) represented a timber structure and cobbled surface dating from the 14th century. The deposits were waterlogged and organic preservation was very good. Phases II-IV represented a series of dumped deposits dating to the medieval period. Modern activity appeared to have removed all post-medieval deposits on the site. [Sec] |
