Abstract: |
The three trenches at Garth Lane revealed that archaeology survives beneath the modern deposits. In trench 1, 13th-14th century pottery was recovered from deposits 4.64m OD sandwiched between flood deposits which covered a possible trample layer containing charcoal flecks. A late medieval floor surface, possibly 16th century in date was noted in trenches 2 and 3. All deposits above this surface were either modern or undated. Below lay a 13th -14th century surface.
