Abstract: |
There was considerable evidence to suggest that the land within the study area had been the focus of human activity since the prehistoric period. This evidence consisted of Bronze Age barrows, an Iron Age vessel and a well-preserved water meadow system on the river Frome dating from around the 17th century, a Grade II Listed 18th century farmhouse and 20th century military remains. Archaeological sites outside of the proposed development area suggested that settlement might be expected closer to the rivers dating from the Neolithic through to the medieval period. [Au(abr)] |
