Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during the excavation of trenches for cables and pits for lamp standards. The development area lay within the Scheduled Ancient Monument County Monument No. 59, the line of the town's medieval defences. The watching brief concluded that the defences consisted of a dump of local alluvial clay. No structures relating to an earlier rampart on top of the ditch were revealed. [AIP] |
