Abstract: |
The desk-based archaeological assessment confirmed that the proposed development area crossed the projected line of the possible Roman aqueduct known as the Raw Dykes. This survived as earthworks immediately adjacent to the site and was designated a SAM. Although heavily truncated outside of the Scheduled area, future development may have an impact on surviving archaeological deposits relating to this monument. In considering the visual impact of the proposals on the SAM, it was concluded that the development had the potential to improve upon the existing setting and presentation of the monument.
