Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out. Four trenches were excavated and no medieval or early post-medieval features were recorded. It was possible that the construction of the post-medieval farm and its outbuildings would have severely truncated any earlier features. In trench two a sandstone pillar was located forming part of the western frontage of an outbuilding depicted on the 1st edition OS map of 1857. In trench three, a wall foundation was located, which did not appear on the 1st edition OS map, or an earlier tithe map of 1840. A sondage cut through this wall foundation recovered 19th century pottery. [Au(adp)] |
