Abstract: |
A largely desk-based archaeological study and walkover survey was carried out in the area of a proposed new perimeter fence line and playing fields at Blandford Camp. The area lay adjacent to the scheduled barrow cemetery known as Telegraph Clump and several, non-scheduled, barrow sites were recorded in the vicinity. The fence line crossed an area of high archaeological potential between barrows which were formerly part of a more extensive cemetery, but also crossed the site of one possible barrow located on aerial photographs. The route also crossed the site of prehistoric field systems and a possible settlement enclosure. The playing fields also lay in an area of archaeological potential, to the south-west of the main cemetery complex. [Au(adp)] |
