Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during groundworks prior to the alteration of the music room and erection of a single storey rear extension. The site lay immediately next to the limits of the shrunken medieval settlement of Upper Quinton. In the west section of the eastern run of the trench the geological natural was cut and contained a dry-stone feature. This feature consisted of olive sandstone coursed rubble. This feature was probably a wall foundation or timber-frame post-pad due to its depth and structure, although, no dateable material was recovered. Across the site a number of c.18th-19th century finds, including pottery, clay pipe and animal bone, were recovered. [Au(abr)] |
