Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained over the installation of WC facilities for staff in an outhouse at the rear of the National Trust owned Old Post Office, Tintagel. Trenches were inspected and archaeologically recorded before being backfilled. Although very little of archaeological interest was revealed in the watching brief, this was not unexpected considering the route chosen for the trenches was along the known lines of existing services, and thus cutting through heavily disturbed ground. The watching brief was able to demonstrate that the present works had little impact on buried remains. It was recommended that future work around Tintagel Old Post Office should be kept to a minimum, and should be closely monitored archaeologically. [Au(adp)] |
