Abstract: |
The survey aimed to provide a brief, comprehensive archaeological overview of the property. For the most part, the historical use of the site was found to be a strip of coastal rough ground, once used as an important part of the agricultural system as seasonal rough pasture. Post-medieval land boundaries and extraction were in evidence. Few modern developments had occured in the area, with the exception of a World War II bomb target and two craters associated with the site's use as a bombing range. Management recommendations were of a general nature and included scrub clearance, the reintroduction of grazing and comments on boundary repairs, as well as the conservation of mining remains within the property.
