Abstract: |
The evaluation consisted of a single machine excavated trench along the rear of the property which identified the presence of a wide linear feature of possible Belgic or early Roman date, overlain by a deposit of probable post-Roman agricultural soil. This plough soil deposit appeared to have accumulated and been worked until the construction of the garden walls to the rear of 53/54 St Dunstons Street and the building of the houses in Orchard Street in the later eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
