Archaeological recording was carried out during the implementation of a flood defence scheme, as well as a detailed recording of the the harbour gates in immediate environs. The original cobbled surface of the quayside, dumped material including mine waste and evidence for land reclamation were noted, as well as more modern modifications to the structure of the harbour.
